Introducing: The Writer’s Toolbox

There’s an interesting paradox about technology. The better it gets, the more it’s able to help us get things done better, cheaper, and faster.

But at the same time, the promise of that technology (whether it fulfills the promise or not) can cause us to believe we need more and more of it.

When the personal typewriter was introduced, pencil and paper began to take a backseat for many writers except the most diehard wordsmiths.

Likewise, when word processing became a hit, suddenly every individual could become a “real” writer, capable of publishing something of comparable quality to major houses.

But maybe technology is getting out of hand.

There’s constantly more and more to learn–how often to Tweet, how to build an online platform, and how to sell books online, not to mention the many technological advances that we haven’t seen yet.

As creators and artists, we can choose to ignore these things–opting for pencil and paper–and just focus on nothing but our writing and hopeful breakthrough.

Or, we can acknowledge that the lowering barrier for entry has caused a huge jump in the number of writers and authors trying to build their platform, and we can choose to use technology to get a step up in the industry.

The Writer’s Toolbox

The Writer’s Toolbox, as I’m calling it, is just that–a “toolbox” for the modern writer, creator, and artist, that will hopefully provide the help, resources, and information you need to not just write better, but also to help launch your platform in an effective way.

I’ve written a fiction thriller novel (among other fiction that you’ll never read!), a lot of non-fiction blog posts, and am beefing up my non-fiction eBook arsenal. That said, my real background is in web design and development, and social media marketing.

Altogether, I believe that I’ve got a lot to learn, and there have certainly been a lot of resources I’ve used to learn more about building successful online platforms.
