This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

That’s either your own time (which you can convert to a dollar amount) or someone else’s (which he or she will convert into a dollar amount for you). He’s suggesting that you find your sweet spot on the time/money spectrum to make your site not just pretty, not just functional, but an effective platform.

He even mentioned that he rarely charges more than $2,000 for an initial site design. I think, perhaps, you should have read past the title. 🙂

Maybe with the math. Based on the $100 per hour scenario even if it did take 100 hours to build a site (which it doesn’t always) not EVERY task is billed at $100 per hour. Maybe some of the larger, more involved tasks like design. Bottom line: every site should cost what it needs to cost based on the needs and BUDGET of the client.

I’ll send you an email–I might be able to help out with that, because you’re right, there’s a pretty steep learning curve to getting everything set up correctly on your site.

Thanks for the comment!

It certainly takes a LOT longer than that to actually get it off the ground, and I don’t think you can “buy” that sort of thing anyway.

Thanks for the comment!

It is a lot of work–even if you use a drag and drop like homestead. I’m using google sites now and the look is only ‘eh’. I’ve turned to blogger and am working on using it more as my primary website even though wordpress.org has more to offer. WP comes with a learning curve I can’t climb.

I assume you mean just setting it up. It takes more than a few weeks to build a reputable blog.

Its 50/50 between the amount of work that you put in and the amount of actual dollars you put into your blog as I have come to find out on my website.

Just keep plugging away at it, and eventually it will be the site you’ve always wanted. However, I don’t think there’s ever a “done” setting for any website–it can be live, but it’s constantly growing, changing, and adapting.

Thanks!

Hope that makes sense!

Wikkins Blog of Evil has cost me around… $1,200, between getting the interface to be what I want it to be and writing content for it.
